what options do you offer for websites?

While not every feature is suitable for every website, options are always nice!

Google Analytics embeded in your site to track visitors and page views, find out whether or not you're being noticed.

Social Links to your other sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn or a Blog.

Chat Window depending on the Instant Messaging service you use it's easy to embed directly into your site so visitors can contact you when you're available without downloading any software.  

Photo Gallery with smooth transitions and interactive functions.

Video you want uploaded and hosted directly on your site or those you want embeded.

Twitter Feed displayed right on your front page, keep your viewers updated all the time.

Facebook Like Button when you create a Facebook page for your business, locate the Marketing tab and select 'Add a like box to your website' and send the code to me.

Advertisements sign up at a website like cj.com and start earning money off the ads you choose to place on your site.

how do i set up my website?

What you need first is your domain name and hosting plan, they typically come as a package deal when you sign up. Make sure your domain name is available and your plan is the most economical (you can always upgrade later, don't over estimate what you need until you know).  While GoDaddy seems popular it often lacks extra features that come standard in other hosting packages, I recommend Yahoo! Web Hosting. (about $8-$12/mo depending on term)

The next step is to get a PayPal Merchant account (free to sign up and 3% per transaction fee).  You can also visit your local bank and enroll in one of their merchant accounts (usually $30/mo plus per transaction fee), but PayPal seems to be least expensive and most flexible.  This step allows you to accept credit cards and eChecks to your bank account.

Now it's time to choose a Shopping Cart.  Many are available for free (search "free shopping cart"), my suggestion is cashie.com which links to your PayPal account.  This allows your customers to check out multiple products without ever leaving your website.  You can also use this account to manage inventory.

Send all of your product descriptions in a text document, preferably all in one.  Images can be sent via email, or postal mail (either a CD or flash drive will be sent to your address in a self addressed return envelope).

!! Don't forget any product options such as size, color and sku (if applicable).
